Joan Fingar Anderson of 83 Hunt Glen Drive, Granby, CT, 06035, formerly of Mount Merino Road, Hudson, New York died peacefully February 17th at Hartford Hospital.
Born June 30, 1928 in Hudson, New York she was the daughter of the late Lyle Peter Fingar and Emily (Fisher) Fingar of Germantown, New York.
She was a graduate of Endicott College in Beverly, MA where she majored in clothing and merchandising.
Preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Anderson of Claverack, New York who she married on November 11, 1950 at the Reformed Church in Germantown, New York.
Joan was an active member of the Greenport Garden Club, serving as corresponding secretary of the annual flower show and chairman of the Civic Beautification Committee. She was a 58-year member of the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack, New York. Joan enjoyed history, gardening, foreign travel, reading and needlework (crewel embroidery and needlepoint). She and Al so enjoyed their beautiful view of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains from their farm when they lived on Mount Merino Road.
Surviving two sons, David L. Anderson (Jennifer) of North Granby, CT and Lyle Anderson (Carol) of Chappaqua, NY and two grandsons, Connor W. Anderson and Grant E. Anderson of North Granby, CT, and her three nieces: Linda C. Decker of Germantown, New York, Barbara Morse-Quinn of Charlotte, North Carolina and Lisa F. Gooch of Georgetown, Colorado. Predeceased by her three brothers: Lyle P. Fingar Jr. and Robert A. Fingar of Germantown, New York and Claudius D. Fingar of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Register-Star March 2, 2017
