Newton Craft, a life long resident of Quarryvllie, town of Saugerties died in the Kingston Hospital Sunday night, pneumonia causing his death. Mr. Craft was in his 72nd year. He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Perks Graft, six daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Hunter, of Brooklyn, Mrs. Katherine Myers of Whitestone, L. I., Mrs. Florence Quick of Quarryvllie, Mrs. Rosella Garrison of Amsterdam, Melita Craft and Rachel Craft of Quarryville three sons, Harold Craft, of Irvington, N. J., Newton Craft Jr. of Cedar Grove and John Craft of Quarryville one sister, Mrs. Catherine Mauterer, of Brooklyn and one brother Sherman Craft of Halstead, Pa. Mr. Craft was a stonecutter by trade and had been engaged in the bluestone business all his life. The funeral will be held in the Quarryrille Methodist Church of which he had been a member, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial in Trinity cemetery, Saugerties, in the spring. - The Kingston Daily Freeman January 31, 1939. Found him on the 1900 Saugerties, Ulster, New York census (dist 131 img 14) as Newton Craft age 32, stone cutter. Found him on the 1920 Saugerties, Ulster, New York census (dist 197 img 2) as Newton Craft age 50, stone cutter, Blue Stone Quarry.
