The wedding of Miss Elisabeth M. Witchie, daughter of Mrs. Mildred Witchie, Chadwicks, and Pvt. Leslie J. Brown, son of Charles P. Brown, 910 Kossuth, took place at 6 p. m. yesterday. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Constant W. Southworth, pastor of St. Stephen's Church, New Hartford, in the church.
Mrs. Lester Young, Schenectady, sister of the bride was the matron of honor and Miss Marion Brown, sister of the bridegroom was the bridesmaid. The bride was given in marriage by LeRoy Finger, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. The best man was Lester Young. Music was furnished by Robert Marks, organist. The bride wore a gown of white satin with a full skirt and chantilly lace basque. The finger tip illusion veil was edged with chantilly lace, caught to a halo of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white roses and white gladiolus. The matron of honor wore a dusty pink jersey gown with a full net skirt, and a pink picture hat She carried a bouquet of pink roses, and white gladiolus tied with a blue ribbon. The bridesmaid's gown was aqua jersey with a full net skirt, and she wore a aque picture hat. Her bouquet was of red roses and white gladiolus tied with a cerise ribbon. The bride's mother wore a brown print gown with matching accessories and wore a corsage of yellow roses. A reception was held in Orchard Hall, Sauquiot, after which the couple left for a short trip. The bride will live in her home in Chadwicks. The bridegroom is stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. A dinner was given Thursday at McGuirl's for the bridal party and immediate families by Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Finger. Mrs. Brown was educated in the Chadwicks High School and Pvt. Brown was graduated from John F. Hughes School. Prior to entering service he worked at the Oneida Knitting Mill. - Utica Daily Press August 19, 1943
