Ralph Tears, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Tears, of Fergusons Corners, is in Soldiers and Sailors Hospital suffering from a lacerated nose, injured eye received Friday night injuries received Friday night about 6 o'clock when he was kicked in the face by a farm horse at the family home while helping with the evening chores. At the time of the accident the boy's father was away from home assisting in threshing at the farm of his father-in-law, John Ellis, at Cronk's Corners. The boy was leading the horses to drink when one of them whirled and struck out with his hoof, the lad receiving the blow in the face. He was taken to Dr. Claude Williamson, at Gorham, who ordered him removed to Penn Yan hospital. - Penn Yan Democrat October 4, 1935
