Rowland M. Sharpe, 87, of DeSota Drive, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., a former Rhinebeck town supervisor, died at Lake City Veterans Hospital, Lake City, Fla. Oct. 28 after a long illness.
Mr. Sharpe served on the Rhinebeck Board of Education and was on the Dutchess County BOCES for 17 years. He was director of Federal Land Bank of Springfield. For 65 years he was a member of the Rhinebeck Lodge 422 FM&M and the Montgomery Post 429, American Legion of Rhinebeck. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church in New Smyrna Beach. Born in Blue Stores, NY. on July 4, 1897, Mr. Sharpe was the son of Manson and Alice Rikert Sharpe. His wife Jeanette Sharpe survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Lynch of Fort Orange, Fla. and Linda Seaman of Sharpsville, Va. three grandchildren several cousins and an aunt, Mae Hamm of Rhinebeck.
