Earl James Potter, of 83 West First street, aged 18 years, died this morning at 3 o'clock at the Corning Hospital following a week's illness of complications supposedly induced by injuries he received a week ago Monday.
Mr. Potter, who was employed by the Merchants' Delivery Service was injured while moving a stove. The nature of his injuries and their results could not be diagnosed exactly so an autopsy will be performed this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Stover Funeral Home where the body was taken.
Earl James Potter was born in Monterey January 8, 1913, the son of Arthur and Nora Payne Potter. For the past 15 years he has lived in Corning. He attended Corning Free Academy and two years ago entered the employ of the Merchants Delivery Service. He had a cheerful disposition which brought him a large number of friends.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nora Potter, of 83 West First street two brothers, Merle and Erwin, of Corning one sister, Mrs. Walter Hammond, of Corning; a grandmother, Mrs. William Richardson, of Elmira and a grandfather, Orson Potter, of Bath. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Stover Funeral Home. The Rev. Guy M. Ovenshlre, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate. - Corning Evening Leader April 28, 1931
