Mary Wittenburg age 33. Came to the U.S. in 1886.
Found her on the 1905 Olean Ward 5, Cattaraugus, New York state census (E.D.01 img 18) as
Mary A. Wittenburg age 38.
Found her on the 1920 Olean Ward 7, Cattaraugus, New York census (dist 82 img 15) as
Maria Wittenburg age 52.
Found her on the 1930 Olean, Cattaraugus, New York census as
Mary A. Wittenburg age 62, widow. Also in her household are
Henry W. Wittenburg age 40, single, step-son and
Marie E. Wittenburg age 19, daughter.
Mrs. Marie Wittenburg, 130 North Fifteenth Street, died unexpectedly about eight-thirty o'clock Saturday evening (September 19, 1942) at her home. She had been is her usual good health and had planned to visit her son
at Fort Niagara Sunday.
She was born in Germany May 7, 1867, and had been a resident of this city for the past fifty-eight years.
Surviving are four sons, Edward M. Wittenburg, a member of the Olean Police Department; Frederick Wittenburg and Henry Wittenburg both of Olean, and Private Charles Wittenburg of Fort Niagara; three daughters, Mrs. Marion Myers, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Alford Struble, Olean; Mrs. Clifford Wing, Bolivar, and eight grandchildren.
Deceased was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at the late home Wednesday afternoon (September 23, 1942) at two o'clock followed by services at
the Immanuel Lutheran Church at two-thirty o'clock. The Rev. Martin Gailmeier pastor will officiate. Pall bearers were George Finger, Harry Finger, Albert Finger, George Finger, Paul Finger and Edward Finger, all nephews.
Burial will be in the Protestant Cemetery at Allegany. - Olean Times-Herald September 21, 1942
