Donald Norman Finger, 83, widower of Norma (Salmons) Finger, passed away Friday, February 6th, 2015. He was born August 25th, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio, son of the late Louis and Lillian (Norman) Finger.
He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, class of 1949. Donald served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was employed by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons and retired after 29 years of service. While with the bureau, he attended Florida State University and the University of Miami. Donald was a Deputy U.S. Marshall in 1961 and served as a Drug Abuse Program Manager at FCI in Lexington, Kentucky.
In his early years, Donald was active in organizing the Chillicothe, Ohio Unioto High School football program and assistant coach. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, The Marine Corps Association and was a Kentucky Colonel. Donald was an avid antique dealer and a collector of antique bottles.
He is survived by two daughters, Beth Ann (Tom) Butrum and Donna DeLaMare; eight grandchildren, Cory DeLaMare, Danielle Antrim, Amy (Michael) Antrim Grizzle, Elizabeth (Clayton) Corbitt, Emily Butrum, Matthew Conner Finger, Sean (Cheri) Estes and Blake (Amy) Wilder; ten great-grandchildren, Kyle DeLaMare, Cody DeLaMare, Catherine Jarrell, Aiden Antrim Anderson, Becca Rose, Abby Rose, Jesse Estes, Finnley Corbitt, Megan Wilder and Ashley Wilder; sister, Judi Hollis; his brother-in-law, Stanley Moore; two nieces, Sheri (Jack) Spencer and Tammi Hamlin; one nephew, Chris Lodwick.
In addition to his wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Wallace Finger; daughter, Rebecca Finger; grandson, Samuel Butrum; sister, Joyce Moore; nephew, Dale Moore.
