Found her on the 1870 Rensselaerville, Albany, New York census (img 42) as Emma Gifford age 11.

Mrs. Emma Simmons, wife of Frank Simmons, died at her home in Philmont, Nov. 1st, after an illness of about two years with consumption. Mrs Simmons, who was born in Greene county, had lived in Philmont the last 35 years and was highly esteemed. She is survived by her husband and three daughters. Her aged mother, Mrs. Angeline Gifford also survives. - The Chatham Courier November 11, 1908
