Found him listed on the 1855 Potter, Yates, New York state census as Aliserall Finger age 18.
OLIVER M. FINGER, of Benton, enlisted at Penn Yan Aug. 30, aged 24 years. Discharged for disability June 18, 1862, at Portsmouth, Va. Subsequent service in Co. I, 148th N.Y. Infantry. - Yates County's "Boys In Blue" pg 38.
The Officer's Certificate of Disability of Soldier says:
"While engaged in battle with the rebels near Petersburg in the State of Virginia on or about the 25th day of June 1864 the said Oliver M. Finger received a gunshot wound from a minie ball which struck him near the left collar bone and passed through his neck." Signed by Martin S. Hicks, Captain, Company I - Civil War Pension File, NARA
He enlisted on the 4th of September 1862 as a private in Company I commanded by Captain Martin S. Hicks in the 148th Regiment of the New York State Volunteers. He was discharged in Virginia 27 May 1865.

Found him on the 1870 Tyrone, Schuyler, New York census (img 42), age 36, Invalid.
