Marie Ernestine Finger, 96, of Clinton, formerly of Waynesville, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday (Nov. 22, 2004) at Crestview Health Care Center, Clinton. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville.
She was born on Easter Sunday, April 19, 1908, at Waynesville, to John E. and Lori Brittan Cunningham. She married Charles 'Chap' Finger on June 1, 1929, at Chicago. Charles passed away Feb. 1, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Darrell (Jean) Finger, Waynesville, and Larry Marilyn Finger, Bloomington four grandchildren, Allen (Josette) Finger, Clinton Eric (Karen) Finger, Maroa Denise (Tim) Garlock, Lexington and Dawn (Kelly) Stevens, Normal nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents two brothers and two sisters. She was a member of Waynesville Womens Club a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star and a member of White Shrine. She graduated from Waynesville High School, Waynesville, and attended Illinois State Normal University, Normal. She taught in country schools in the 1920s and later began substitute teaching. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
