LIVERPOOL COUPLE KEEP THEIR MARRIAGE SECRET FOR YEAR Mrs Emily E. Schiesser and Edward J. Filsinger Make Announcement of Wedding Couldn't Live Apart, Groom Returns.
After keeping their marriage a secret for a year, the parents of Emily E. Schiesser, Mr. and Mrs. Gabrieal Schiesser of Liverpool, have announced her wedding to Edward J. Filsinger of Detroit, Mich., son of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Filsinger of Liverpool.

Mr. Filsinger arrived Saturday to spend the first anniversary of their wedding with his youthful wife after a trip West. The wedding culminated a boyhood and girlhood friendship that ripened into love last summer. They had planned to be married for many months before the day of the ceremony, Aug. 16. While on a trip in his motor boat about Onondaga Lake, Mr. Filsinger suggested that they carry out their original plans and go to Liverpool and be married. A minister was soon found after the marriage license had been quietly issued and the knot was tied without the knowledge of their friends and parents. Witnesses and the pastor were pledged to keep tbe secret with them and soon they were enjoying a brief honeymoon in their motor boat at the lake.

WENT TO OWN HOMES
With the intent of keeping the marriage secret for two years until they finished their courses in which they were attending, both of the 'newly weds' went to their respective homes. Parents and friends often suggested that their bethrothal be announced, little thinking that they were man and wife. Soon Mrs. Schiesser surmised that the young couple were more than lovers, for they were constantly together when the opportunity afforded. One day when 'Miss' Schiesser was preparing to leave for Philadelphia where she was to enter the West Philadelphia hospital to complete her course as a trained nurse, she told her mother. Mr. Filsinger made known to his parents last fall that he was married to Miss Schiesser and they promised their secrecy.
Miss Schiesser left for Philadelphia during September and her husband entered Syracuse University, enrolling in the philosophical course. Shortly after beginning his college career he left for Detroit, where he entered the services of an automobile company, where he is now employed. Miss Schiesser returned to this city last winter because of her inability to be happy in that strange city with her husband away from her, a rapid exchange of letters arranged plans for the starting of housekeeping in the Western city. Mr. and Mrs. Schiesser will leave Sept. 1 for Detroit, where they will make their home. A year ago last June Miss Schiesser was graduated from the Union Missionary Training School at New York. Mr. Filsinger attended the Mount Herman School at Mt. Herman, Mass., before attending Syracuse University. - Syracuse Journal August 19, 1913 page 2.
