Miss Mary Margaret Sickler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Sickler of 225 Partition street, Saugerties, was united in marriage to Chester Luther Mower, Route 1, Saugerties, son of Mrs. Maud Mower and the late Jesse Mower of Cementon. The double ring ceremony was performed Sunday. October 17, at 2 p. m. in St. Mary's RC Church by the Rev. Matthew F. Malloy, assistant pastor. For the occasion the sanctuary was decorated with white chrysanthemums, red roses and blue carnations. Miss Marilyn Winnie, soloist, rendered Panis Angclicus, and Ave Maria to the accompaniment of Mrs. William Rlimley, who also played traditional wedding refrains on the organ. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a gown ot satin and hand-sewn Alencon type lace appliqued around the neck-line, waist-line and flowing down the train. Long satin fingertip sleeves accented a lace yoke forming a scoop neck-line. The headpiece consisted of a matching frosted lace skull cap which supported an imported illusion veil. She carried a cascade of white roses and gladioli surrounding a white orchid. The matron of honor, Mrs. John Mahoney of Kingston, wore a floor length gown of emerald taffeta, and matching bolero jacket with a run of soft pleats edging top of gown and waistline. A small bustle bow and small matching taffeta hat completed the ensemble. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow pompons. The bridesmaids were Mrs.Roy Gillespy, Jr. of Saugerties, cousin of the bride, who was attired in a gold gown similar to that of the honor attendant and she carried a colonial bouquet of bronze pompons, and Miss Jacqueline Salisbury of Saugerties, who was similarly attired in a gown of ruby wine. Miss Salisbury carfted a colonial bouquet of light orchid pompons. The bridal bouquet was presented to the bride by her godfather, Carmelo Dragotta of Kingston. The brother of the bridegroom, Floyd Mower of Route 1, Saugerties, served as best man. The ushers were William McMonegal. Jr., cousin of the bride, and Richard Winnie, nephew of the bridegroom, both of Saugerties. A reception for 80 guests was held at the Flamingo Restaurant on the Saugerties-Kingston road. Music for dancing was supplied by Frankie Zano and his orchestra. For the wedding journey through northern New York, Niagara Falls and Canada, the bride chose for her traveling ensemble a charcoal grey coat dress vvith matching accessories and a pink coat and hat. Her corsage was a white orchid. The bride, a graduate of St. Mary's School and Saugerties High School, was employed at the Corner store on Main street, Saugerties. The bridegroom, a graduate of Katsbaan and and Saugerties High School, served with the U.S. Army for four years during World War 2 and is presently employed with S. Berzal of Saugerties. Upon return from the wedding journey, the newlyweds will make their future home on the Saugerties-Woodstock road, Saugerties. - The Kingston Daily Freeman October 20, 1954 page 17
