An automobile owned by Ralph Cragg, 235 First Street, Painted Post, was almost completely demolished when struck by a westbound Erie passenger train at the First Street crossing in Painted Post Tuesday about 4:10 p. m. According to state police, the car was operated by Mr. Cragg's wife. Mrs. Frances Cragg, and had stalled as it was going over the crossing. Mrs. Cragg saw the approaching train and got out of the car shortly before the collision. The car was thrown clear of the tracks after it had been carried a short distance on the front of the engine. - The Evening Leader July 2, 1947
