Elias Burton Dennis, 31, lifelong resident of Monterey and vicinity, died in Briggs Memorial Hospital in Ithaca Monday. He had been in ill health for several years, and hospitalized since October 5. Mr. Dennis was born in the Town of Orange on December 23, 1912, the son of Lloyd Dennis and Viola Potter Dennis. He was married to Etha Vastbinder, Corning by the Rev. John O. Mabuce, at that time pastor of Grace Methodist Church, Corning. He was engaged in farming. Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Russell at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dennis of Monterey, two sisters. Mrs. Pearl Materne of Elmira and Miss Letha Dennis of Monterey and a number of aunts and uncles. The body will be removed from the Carpenter Funeral Home to the residence in Monterey on Wednesday and the funeral conducted Thursday at 2:30 by the Rev. Alexander Perry, pastor of Monterey Baptist Church. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery in Monterey. - Corning Leader Oct 31, 1944
