Charles Alonzo Lowry, 88, died at the Corvallis Care Center of an extended illness Thursday. He was born in Oklahoma to Alonzo and Bertha Lowry.
He came to Oregon at the age of nine, settling in Portland, where he received his education. He worked in the shipyards during World War I and later for the Portland Gas Co. He was in the construction business prior to moving to Alsea in 1940. He worked as a log scaler from Clemens Lumber Co. for many years before retiring in 1967.
He married Ethel H. Davey on Sept 10, 1941 in Portland.
He was a member of and substitute minister for the Alsea Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and generally enjoyed the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two step-sons, Raymond Davey of Corvallis and Albert Davey of Aurora. Obituary
