Edward Finger, Jr. age 9.
Edward P. Finger of 1762 Happy Hollow Road passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 in the Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Finger was born on Feb. 6, 1931 in Olean and was a son of Edward P. and Mary Anabus Finger. He married his wife Bette E. Ford in 1960 in Ischua, who survives.
Mr. Finger was a graduate of Olean High School Class of 1947. He also graduated from the University of Buffalo with a BS in Pharmacy in 1954. Mr. Finger worked for Harvey and Carrey after high School and during college. He served in the US Army in the Korean war in Germany from 1954 to 1956 as both a pharmacist and an X-Ray Technician. He was discharged from the Army in 1957. Mr. Finger worked at Frank's Pharmacy from 1957-1968 and for Magnano's Pharmacy in Cuba from 1968 to 1986. He then worked at Fay's Drug Store from 1986 until he retired in 1996.
Mr. Finger was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, computers and woodworking.
Surviving Mr. Finger besides his wife are a daughter, Christina M. (Craig) Palmer of Louisville, Kentucky; a son Edward P. Finger; two grandchildren, Cristin L. Palmer and Collin L. Palmer; and a nephew, Mark Winters of Georgia.
He was pre-deceased by a sister Barbara Winters Mathis.
