Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for John J. Stickle, age 78, from his late home in this village. He had been in ill health for over a year and was taken to the Hudson City Hospital about two weeks ago. He failed to rally from an operation. Mr. Stickle was a retired farmer from Blue Stores and has been living in this village for a number of years with his sisters. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Clayton Stickle of Blue Stores, one brother and two sisters of this village. Rev. George E. Hipsley officiated and burial was in the family plot in the Lutheran cemetery. - The Red Hook Times May 25, 1929
