Word of the sudden death of Daniel Chichester, 57, was a shock to the people of our village Sunday evening. Mr. Chichester was taken ill Sunday morning. He was the son of the late Tobias and Cecilia Chichester.
He was born in Hudson and came here when a small boy. He operated a grocery store and at one time was postmaster. He was a member of Trinity church where he also was a vestryman for a number of years.
Mr. Chichester is survived by his wife, Beulah Fingar Chichester, two sisters, Mrs. Harry Rockefeller of this village and Mrs. Joseph Tisher of Long island, one brother, Lyle Chichester of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held this Thursday at 2 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Harry Rockefeller, the Rev. Charles Champlin officiating. Interment was at the Germantown Lutheran cemetery. - The Rhinebeck Gazette December 12, 1946
