The first candidate for the ministry in the 34-year history of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bayside, Andrew R. Finger will occupy the pulpit in the absence of the Rev. Walter E. Schwolert, pastor.
The 21-year-old theology student at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Springfield, Ill., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Finger of 208-10 47th avenue. A member of an old Bayside family, young Finger is the grandson of the late Mr and Mrs. Frank

The Rev. Andrew R. Finger, lifelong resident of Bayside, will set sail on Friday Oct. 31 for Nigeria, West Africa where he will assume the duties of a missionary minister of the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Walter E. Schwolert, pastor of Redeemer church and father-in-law of Mr. Finger, officiated at the ordination and commissioning service of his son-in-law.
