Mrs. Carrie E. Sampson, of 16 Lathrop avenue, aged 83 years, widow of Frank Sampson, died on Tuesday, April 13, 1943, at the home of her son, Walton H. Sampson, 325 Hosiyn Street, Rochester where she had gone to spend the winter. She had been in failing health for several months.
Born in Pavilion on Feb. 17, 1860, the daughter of Prescott and Amanda Mason Hawks, she passed her entire life in this vicinity.
Mrs. Sampson was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, being one of its oldest members. She was a member of the Randall Class
of the Church and honorary president of the Women's Organization and a member of Olive, Branch Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
For the past three winters Mrs. Sampson had made her home with her son, Mr. Walton Sampson of Rochester.
Survivors besides her son are two granddaughters. Mrs. Austin Foote of Hobart and Miss Martha Sampson of Rochester, two great grandchildren, John Walton and Judith Ann Foote and several nieces and nephews.
