Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Groves former residents of Branchport, New York, who are now residing at 1047 Seventh Street, Douglas, Arizona, celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary with a buffet supper and open house at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Groves, on Sunday March 14, 1971.
Mr. and Mrs. Groves were married March 15, 1921 in Branchport, New York. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Groves, of Woodhull, New York. She was Nellie Dinehart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. [Maud] Emerson Dinehart of Branchport.
The reception was attended by approximately 30 friends of the couple and many lovely gifts were received. They have been in Douglas 11
years. They have 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The couple have a daughter Mrs. Maurice Fingar (Shirley) who resides in Tucson, Arizona. - The Chronicle Express April 8, 1971
Nellie Groves, 78, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Guyanoga, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1961.
Funeral services and burial were held in Douglas, Ariz.
Mrs. Groves was employed at the Michael Sterns company in Penn Yan before moving to Arizona.
She was the widow of Clinton Groves, and is survived by a son, Emerson (Bud) Groves of Douglas; a daughter, Mrs. Maurice (Shirley) Fingar of Tucson; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Peter Dinehart of Penn Yan; several nieces, including Virginia Burk of Branchport; a nephew and several cousins in the Penn Yan area. - The Chronicle Express October 8, 1981
