The residents of the village of Clermont were startled yesterday by hearing the news of the sudden death of Peter Fraleigh, an old and honored resident of that village.
The facts as we receive them are as follows: Mr. Fraleigh has been living with his brother at the Clermont Hotel for some time. Yesterday afternoon he went out to the barn to do some work. About half an hour after his brother went to the barn and discovered Mr. Fraleigh lying on the floor and blood running from his mouth and ears. The injured man was conveyed to the house and medical aid summoned but their efforts proved of no avail, he dying in about half an hour.
How he sustained the accident which resulted so fatally is unknown, but it is generally supposed he fell either while climbing the ladder to the loft above or from the loft where he had gone while doing his work. Mr. Fraleigh's death casts gloom over the community where he resided. He was a man well along in years and generally respected. - Hudson Daily Evening Register July 30, 1888
