Found him on the 1860 Eastchester, Westchester, New York census (img 30) as Danl B Horton age 13. Found him on the 1870 Eastchester, Westchester, New York census (img 111) age 23, single, living at home, carriage painter. Found him on the 1880 New York (Manhattan), New York City-Greater, New York census (dist 660 img 8) age 34, car inspector. Found him on the 1900 New Haven, New Haven Connecticut census (dist 355 ing 23) age 53, switchman, R.R. Father born New York, mother born England. Found him on the 1910 New Haven, New Haven Connecticut census (dist 392 ing 20) age 63, switchman, steam railroad. Civil War Service Record: First enlisted as Private Co. E., 17 Reg't New York State National Guard. July 8th, 1863, was discharged therefrom August 13, 1863 by reason on expiration of enlistment.
Second, enlisted as Private in General Service Dec 15th, 1863 was assigned to 'B' Co. 2nd N.Y. Cavalry Volunteers was discharged as Private Co D 2nd N.Y. Cavalry June 23rd 1865 by reason of close of war. 3rd Enlistment as Private in Regular Service on July 8, 1867, was assigned to Company I 32nd U.S. Inf. was discharged as a private from Co. I 2nd U.S. Inf at Drum Barracks, California July 8, 1870 by reason of expiration of service. There was no Navy service. This record is complete. In his Civil War Pension record he is described (in 1867) as age 22 years, by occupation a Painter, color of eyes grey, hair dark, complexion florid, height 5 feet 5¼ inches.
