D. C. Finger, prominent farmer of the Stanley section died suddenly Thursday night at his home. The funeral service was conducted Saturday and burial made at Stanly cemetery.
Mr. Finger is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. C.E. Shealy of Charlotte and Miss Lucy Finger, who lives at the home place; 2 sisters, Mrs. Will Camp, of Lincolnton, and Mrs. George Brown of Iron Station; and 2 brothers, W.J.M. Finger of Charlotte and Tom Finger of Maiden.
Mr. Finger was 89 years old and was engaged in farming. He was a Confederate veteran, having served with distinction through the civil conflict. A member of Castanea church in Lincoln county, he was the dean of its deacons, having served as a deacon for practically 50 years. Mrs. Finger died several months ago at an advanced age, and a daughter, Mrs. E.L. Pegram of Stanley, died 15 or 20 years ago. - Lincoln County News March 12, 1923
