"In April 1819 John sold his ninety-one acres on Hoyles Creek for $182, and in August he disposed of a town lot in Lincolnton for $900. He was already looking westward, no doubt influenced by his uncle Henry... After selling his property, John Finger also moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee, where on 21 February 1820 he paid $2,300 for 150 acres on a branch of Stones River (not far from Murfreesboro). The 1820 census shows his household adjoining that of his uncle. -
