Wilson was born May 17, 1916, on the family farm in Wayne County to Adolph and Louise D. (Hunsinger) Finger and married Elizabeth F. Farquhar on Dec. 14, 1946. She died Oct. 11, 1995. He was closely associated with the fine Amish community of Wayne County and attended grammar school with his friends at Goodins School in Paint Township, Wayne County. He later graduated from Waukegam Township High School in Illinois.
Wilson served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Baltimore, USS Saginaw Bay and the USS Murrelet. As a man who led by example he was an extremely hard-working farmer and trucker. He worked for himself and the land raising black Angus and hogs on 57 acres in Creston, then 217 acres in Lore City, on another farm in Freeport and yet another later on Beeham Run Road. As a trucker, Wilson worked for Motor Cargo and Consolidated Freightways.
A spiritual man, he respected the land and the life it offered his family and valued friendship above all possessions. His passions drew him to frequent visits with family and friends, site-seeing the natural habitat of his community with his family, and constant improvement of the land he worked.
