The Life and Memory of Henry Finger, Sr.

In the year 1895 my sons William and John, with their families moved to Prescott, and in the spring of 1901 I sold my farm in Riga and moved also to Prescott and settled on a farm adjoining my son William. Here I, and my wife, lived quite happy until 1910 when I was taken with rheumatism. In spite of all medical treatment it become worse from time to time until I become disabled to work also, so we locked the house and moved over to our son John.

My wife become somewhat better but I become worse, and in Februry 1912 I was tied up to my bed, so we both lingered along, I on rheumatism and my wife on dropsical trouble until May the 21st 1913 when my wife died. John's wife had become very sick also.

Then William moved me over to his house. My wife was 76 years, 10 months, and 5 days old when she died. During the summer my health recovered considerable but my knee joints were such that I could not walk, so I got an invalid chair which enabled me to be up in my chair a good deal of the time.

Now I thank my Creator I have lived long enough to see my children in the fourth generation. I do not know how long I may have to suffer, yet I have suffered considerable pains already. I have so far been patient and will try and bare it further 'til Kingdom comes.
