Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cookingham of Stanfordville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday, September 12 at their home with open house from 2 to 8 p. m. They received congratulations under an arch of white and gold flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Cookingham, who was Matie Van Benschoten were married at the home of her parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Benschoten in Stanford by Rev. A. E. Barnett pastor of the Pine Plains Methodist church They were attended by her brother-in-law and sister, the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bowman, (Ida Van Benschoten) of Milan. The affair was attended by nearly one hundred relatives and friends. They have always resided in Stanford. Mr. and Mrs. Cookigham received gifts, money and many congratulatory cards. Mr. and Mrs. Cookingham are the parents of six children, Earl and Harold Cookingham, Mrs. Harry Hoffman, (Ida) of Pine Plains Bevan Cookingham of Amenia Russell Cookingham of Astoria, L. I. and the late Mrs. Edith Dykeman. There are 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Three people who attended the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Cookingham September 12 also were in attendance at their wedding fifty years ago, Mrs. Arthur Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bowman.
