Many friends and relatives gathered at the Friends church on Wednesday of last week twelve o'clock, new time, to see Ethel Finger become the bride of Herbert Allen of Salt Point.

The best man was Harold Nelson of Salt Point, and the bridesmaid was Miss Allendorf, of Poughkeepsie, a cousin of the bride. After the reception, at which about sixty guests partook of refreshments at her home, the bride and groom left by automobile for a tour in the Adirondacks. Upon their return they will make their home in Salt Point where Mr. Allen is a farmer.

G. Herbert Allen, well-known Salt Point farmer, died in Vassar hospital, Poughkeepsie, early Wednesday morning from injuries he received when gored by a bull on his farm Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Allen is believed to have been leading the bull from a breeding pen to another pen when it attacked him. Although critically injured he managed to crawl to a point near his home where his wife found him. She called Dr. R. V. Berry of Stanfordville, who had him removed to the hospital.

Medical Examiner Samuel E. Appel reported that Mr. Allen died from a crushed chest, fractured skull and internal injuries.

Mr. Allen was a director of the New York State Guernsey Club and widely known as a dairy farmer, through his activities with the Dutchess County Farm Bureau and the 4-H Club. He was a director of the Dutchess County Agricultural Society and formerly was assessor of the town of Clinton.

He was born in the town of Clinton, a son of William and Cora Van de Water Allen.

Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Ethel Finger Allen a daughter, Barbara his mother, of Clinton Corners and two brothers, Henry of Wisconsin and Elmer of Potsdam, N. Y. - The Rhinebeck Gazette July 26, 1940
