Many friends and relatives gathered at the Friends church on Wednesday of last week twelve o'clock, new
time, to see Ethel Finger become the bride of Herbert Allen of Salt Point.
The best man was Harold Nelson of Salt Point, and the bridesmaid was Miss Allendorf, of Poughkeepsie, a cousin of the bride. After the reception, at which about sixty guests partook of refreshments at her home, the bride and groom left by automobile for a tour in the Adirondacks. Upon their return they will make their home in Salt Point where Mr. Allen is a farmer.
Ethel F. A. Timmer, 101, a resident of Salt Point and lifelong area resident, died March 23, 1998 at her home. A parishioner of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Salt Point, she was church organist for more than 60 years. She was also past treasurer at the church and a member of the church ladies auxiliary. Mrs. Timmer was a lifelong member of Upton Lake Grange, serving as pianist and financial secretary. For many years she was a winner at the Dutchess County Fair with the Golden Guernsey Coop. She was an honorary member of the Town of Clinton Historical Society. During World War II she was an airplane spotter in the Town of Clinton. She was an avid gardener and belonged to several area bridge clubs.
Born March 24, 1896 in Pleasant Plains, she was a daughter of Henry and Caroline Allendorf Fingar. She married George Herbert Allen in 1920. He died in 1940. In 1945, she married Christian Albert Timmer. He died in 1978. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Wild of Salt Point, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several cousins, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The Register Herald April 2, 1998
