Found her on the 1900 Claverack, Columbia, New York census (dist 9 img 37) as Emma Gifford age 39. Has given birth to 4 children, 2 are living.

Found her on the 1910 Claverack, Columbia, New York census (dist 7 img 9) as Emma E. Gifford age 48, widow. She is living in the household of her brother Sylvanus Fingar age 33. Address: 65 Main St.

Mrs. Emma Gifford died at her home in Philmont, Wednesday night. She was in her fifty-seventh year and had been ill for only three days.

She is survived by one son, Clarence of Utica, a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Stickles of Philmont her mother, Mrs. Julia H. Fingar and a brother, Sylvanus Fingar also of Philmont.

The funeral was held from her late home Saturday, Rev. M. C. T. Andrea of the Reformed church officiating. Burial was in the Mellenville cemetery. - Obituary, Chatham Courier 1918
