Two persons were admitted to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital yesterday at 10:30 a.m. following an accident at Rts. 14 and 54. Terry D. Finger, 19, of Dresden, told investigating officer Chief Deputy Smiley and Deputy Pat Coyne of the Yates County Sheriff's department, that he had stopped at the intersection, saw nothing approaching, and started to cross Rte.14 when the car stalled. The driver of the other car, Stuart J. McCoon, 33, of 128 West Main St., Phelps, told officers he was traveling south, on Rte. 14, saw the stopped car and applied his brakes, but was unable to avoid hitting the car.
Mrs. Wanita McCoon, 31, of 128 W. Main St., Phelps, a passenger in the car received contusions of the hand and a back injury. Mrs. Gertrude McCoon, 71 of Stannard Rd., Windsor, also a passenger in the McCoon car was treated for a knee injury. Both women were taken to the hospital in the Trianble Ambulance from Penn Yan.
