William N. Coons died at his home in Gulick on September 24, 1912. He was the son of Philip and Hannah Coons and was born in Benton, Yates county, and moved with his parents to this village when a small boy.
At the age of 22 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Proper, daughter of Myers and Hannah Proper. To them were
born seven children: three sons Charles, who died in infancy; George W. and John P., of South Bristol and four daughters — Mrs. Purlee Wilbur, of Rushville; Mrs. James Woodard, of South Bristol; Mary, who died at the age of 18 years; and Mrs. Carrie Ingraham, of Naples.
Mr. Coons' wife died about three years ago, since which time he had made his home with his son, George.
He was a Christian and a member of the Gulick M. E. church, and was always an honest and industrious man and very jovial, always
seeming to enjoy himself in the presence of his friends. - The Naples Record October 9, 1912
