Mrs. Hannah Coons, wife of Philip and mother of W. N. Coons of Bristol, sad John P. Coons of this place, who is now 74 years old, finished s quilt on her birth-day, February 25, that was begun on the first day of July last, which contains 1800 pieces. This was besides doing the house work for herself and husband. Mrs. Coons could have had but very few idle moments. - Naples Record March 4, 1881

The death of Mrs. Hannah Coons, widow of the late Philip Coons, and mother of J. P. Coons, of this village, which occurred on Friday, February 10, was not unexpected. She had been ill for some time, and had reached the good
age of 81 years, and it was not believed she could rally again! But she was ready to depart. She had lived a good life and died in the strength and comfort of the Christian faith.
Her memory is treasured by her children, grandchildren and a large number of neighbors and friends. Mrs. Coons had lived in Naples forty-five years and had reared eleven children, six sons and five daughters, of whom there are living, four sons and two daughters.
Her funeral was held on Sunday last at 1:30 P. M. at her late residence. Rev. N. N. Beers conducted the services. A long line of relatives and friends followed the remains to their burial in Rose Ridge. - The Naples Record February 15, 1888
