Found him on the 1865 Naples, Ontario, New York state census (img 7) as Phillip Coons age 59, farmer. His mother-in-law Christeana Finger is living in the household.
Found him on the 1880 Naples, Ontario, New York census (dist 130 img 43) as Phillip Coons age 73, farmer.
The death of Philip Coons was unexpected by his many friends, but not by his family. Mr. Coons had been a resident here for nearly sixty years, was well known and was much respected.
He was a kind husband, father, and neighbor, and to his immediate friends and those who knew him more intimately the loss is more keen. His younger days were spent in Yates County where he was much respected also.
He leaves a wife, three daughters, and four sons. The funeral services were held at the late residence, near I. M. Anable's on Friday Feb. 25th, at 2 p. m., Rev. W. D. Piatt officiating, and the remains were taken to Rose Ridge for interment. - Neapolitan Record February 25, 1887.
